Anthology Senior Living of Simsbury is adding a Kitchen Porter (Utility Worker) to the team to support the delivery and execution of quality food service to residents and guests. This role will be based in Anthology of Simsbury 142 Copper Ave, Simsbury CT 06089 and will join a supportive and high-performing team with the aim of redefining senior living and delivering top level results. The Kitchen Porter will maintain the cleanliness of all flatware, pots, pans, and serving trays in addition to assisting in meal prep and/or busing tables on an as needed basis.


FSLA: Non-Exempt


Shift: Part time days/evenings

 

Your Mission

Be a key member and contributor of the Anthology of Simsbury team by successfully:

  • Dishwashing
  • Monitor dish machine temperatures in the daily log to maintain compliance
  • Clean all dishes, flatware, pots, pans, and trays in the community dish machine.
  • Maintain cleanliness of dish machine area and inspect all dishes for chips, cracks, or stains to properly repair or dispose of
  • Distribute and store all clean pots, dishes, and utensils according to procedures
  • Service
  • Clear tables after a meal on an as-needed basis
  • Complete items on open and closing check lists as it pertains to shift
  • Kitchen Prep
  • Assist cooks with washing, cleaning, and preparing produce and fruit
  • Clean and sanitize work surfaces and kitchen equipment
  • Assist with delivery of meals if tray service is required by residents

 

Your Track Record

  • Previous fine dining or culinary experience preferred but not necessary
  • Desire to learn and an eagerness to serve seniors
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks
  • Ability to read and understand the English language
  • Demonstrate good judgement and decision making skills
  • Maintain a safe community and workplace

 

Your Working Conditions

  • Must be mobile, able to stay on feet for the duration of a shift, perform the movements of bending, kneeling, stooping, pushing, pulling, and repetitive movement
  • Able to move intermittently throughout the workday and throughout the community
  • Ability to lift up to 40lbs and pull carts as necessary
  • "No job too small” mentality, with a naturally innovative and creative nature
  • Requires interaction with co-workers, residents, and vendors
  • Occasional weekend or evening work if needed to ensure shift coverage
  • Possible exposure to communicable diseases and infections
  • Exposure to latex
